Family, Photos, & Furry Friends (or not so furry friends)

I love when pets are included in the family photos! Pets are such a huge part of our lives… it wouldn’t be the same not having them there. I may be little biased here as I always love to include my dog, Rufus :)

When including pets, it may take a few more tries to get the photos, but the authentic love that’s shown in the photos is soooo worth it!! (and if you know me you know I already take a lot of photos already!)

Plus, it’s always fun to have silly pictures and show the true personality/relationship of your pets and family! Including pets also allows for a more comfortable and lighthearted mood for the photoshoot.

Thinking about including your pets in photos? I’ve got a few tips to help the process run as smooth as possible :)

1. Designate someone to be in charge of the pet; possibly even bring a family friend along to help take care of them. Remember that you still have to get pictures taken too!

2. Bring along treats! This is a new experience for them, make sure you can let them know they’re doing well and make it a positive experience for them too!

3. Take care of all your pet’s needs beforehand. This includes feeding them, taking them to the bathroom, etc. Similar to a child, you’ll want to make them happy and comfortable (this is a new environment and situation for them, we want to do our best to help make sure they’re not overwhelmed).

4. Introduce your pet to the photographer and let them get warmed up to each other ahead of time. If it’s possible for them to meet before the day of the photoshoot, that’s perfect! If not, show up a few minutes early to the photoshoot and let them have some time to meet! It’s always a good idea to communicate with your photographer about all plans and decide on something that works best for both of you!
